The source of some paradoxes from social choice and probability ;
An elementary argument is developed to explain and unite several paradoxes coming from probability and from social choice. This geometric approach is illustrated with new results about the intransitivities of election rankings over subsets of alternatives, agenda manipulation, conditional probability, and waiting times.
