Environmental fanatics?

John Francis,After a massive oil spill polluted San Francisco Bay in 1971, Francis gave up all motorized transportation. For 22 years, he walked everywhere he went -- including treks across the entire United States and much of South America -- hoping to inspire others to drop out of the petroleum economy

John Francis has (so far) two children.
When push came to shove, and in spite of the overpopulation of the planet, he put his desires first.

Color me unconvinced. Walking around the planet is an interesting stunt, but at the end of the day it strikes me as just one more bizarre religious ritual, no different from living on a pillar like a stylite.
