Quote of the Day

From a Q & A with Religion Professor Mark C. Taylor;

Q. Do you believe in God?

A. Not in the traditional sense. God, or, in different terms, the divine, is the infinite creative process that is embodied in life itself. As such, the divine is the arising and passing that does not itself arise and pass away. This process is actualized in an infinite web of relations that is an emergent self-organizing network of networks extending from the natural and social to the technological and cultural dimensions of life.

Can anybody explain it in English?

Basically, it sounds like he believes in chaos theory. Order arises out of chaos and he sees this as an infinite creative process. His deconstruction of God is similar to the deconstruction some evolutionary psychologists have done with the human mind. The evolutionary psychologists will try to explain the most unlikely decisions in terms of some particular evolutionary need. There's not much room for free will, or personality for that matter. The mind is pretty much an illusion to them.
